Karl Hess & Greg Barris

The Velv is proud to present TWO headliners for the price of ONE!

Karl Hess is a person & stand-up comedian, writer, host and actor who lives in Los Angeles. He is the only person ever to do all of those things. He enjoys tacos and leisure.

Karl has performed at the Montreal Just For Laughs Festival,SXSW, San Francisco Sketchfest, The Bridgetown Comedy Festival, the Laughing Skull Comedy Festival in Atlanta at which he was a finalist, the High Plains Comedy Festival in Denver and numerous others whose inclusion might render this biographical blurb unwieldy and verbose, which, let's be honest, nobody here has time for. He has been featured on TruTV, FUSE, AXS TV, numerous national commercials, written for MTV and VICE, was a host of the Elite Daily Show on the go90 network, and he plays regularly at the top shows in LA, as well as all across this great nation. His debut album Mannish Boy is available now from AST Records here.

Karl is co-host of the comedy food podcast Yelling About Pâté along with Chef Joel Miller. Rolling Stone called Yelling About Pâté "your new favorite show," and The A.V. Club hailed it as "a great listen." Karl has also appeared on The Cooking Channel numerous times as a food expert and commentator.

Greg Barris is an American Comedy Scene Darling accurately described as "the perfect combination of very good looking, hilarious and super-weird” (Paper Magazine). For years, Barris was a staple in New York’s downtown stand-up scene and as creator and host of the popular Brooklyn comedy/music variety show Heart of Darkness where guests included Fred Armisen, Janeane Garofalo, and Andrew WK, to name but a few. In addition to curating and performing every sold out Heart of Darkness live show, Barris’ boundless talent and energy was also showcased in his pop fantasy comedy band the Wigmaker’s Son whose ‘Greatest Tits’ LP is Zappa-meets-Lonely-Island featuring Barris and guitarist/visual artist Dima Drjuchin plus special guest Reggie Watts. After bouncing between NYC and Los Angeles for a time, Barris now calls L.A. home where he can be seen performing around the city. You can also hear him as host of the podcast "Deep Healing with Greg Barris", available on all streaming platforms.
